Week of Sept. 11th

As our classroom culture continues to develop, we have spent much time laying the foundation for good teamwork this week. Many activities this week and additional challenges over the coming weeks will be created to support the students in developing leadership, decision-making, trust-building, communication, and conflict-management skills before our team-building challenges time has been spent establishing expectations and norms for working together. Upon completing each task, we have also reflected on our success. Teamwork will be an ongoing process, but with continued praise and positive feedback when the children interact with their peers positively, nice progress will be made.

This week, we have also started our weekly spelling and phonic lesson. Each week, your child will have ten words given to them. These words are from the new Grade Three English Language Arts Curriculum. As the week progresses, the goal will be to read and spell these words independently and confidently. I will include the weekly words in my blog. Please take the time to support your child by continuing to review them. This week, our focus was on identifying letters as vowels or consonants.
